Presumed-dead James Delaney (Tom Hardy) reappears in London in 1814, to find his father dead and England at war with France and the US. Due to inherit his father's shipping empire, his resurfacing threatens his half-sister Zilpha (Oona Chaplin) and the political ambitions of the East India Company.
